Controller Swap - Fields in Display Now Blank

Recommended Posts

Stock 2017 7-speed. Nothing has changed, as far as settings, parts, modifications, etc. Pedal assist was working fine then quit. Ridding along on flat  smooth road, and suddenly LCD screen showed output in PAS 5 go from in the 350 W - 400 W range then quickly plummet down to 0.  After motor cut-off (hit brakes, etc.) PAS will start to work again, but very quickly plummets to zero again. Same issue regardless of PAS setting (1 - 5). Throttle works fine, but no assist. Tried cleaning the sensor and the magnet ring. Made sure it was close to the sensor. Checked connection from sensor to the controller.

Thanks for any help!

You could try replacing the PAS assemble. I’d spring for this from Bolton but it’s currently out of stock like so many Chinese supplied ebike parts and if your chain has ever come off the chainring you know why. https://boltonebikes.com/collections/electrical-accessories/products/single-piece-pedal-assist-pas-sensor
This IS in stock. https://boltonebikes.com/collections/electrical-accessories/products/pedal-assist-pas-sensor
If replaced and problem persists, replacIng  the controlling would be my next step.

Here was my original post:

Since then:

A new PAS sensor didn't fix it, so I ordered a new controller from the Sondors site. All the cables matched up and it looks just like the original one. I swapped the controller and tested the bike. PAS works, throttle works, but the display shows nothing for charge level, 000 for Speed and 000 for amp usage. So the bike "runs" either pedaling with assist or throttling, but have no read-out for speed, battery charge level or power usage.

Any help appreciated!

All KT Controllers might look similar but they are identified by their model number and the model of Sondors’ they are compatible with.
Those symptoms sound like the controller & LCD compatibility issue, that have been reported and diagnosed on this forum in the past.  Because each model of Sondors might use a similar controller but individual models have Unique Communication Protocols and are not compatible with other Sondors models.
See:
https://sondorsforum.com/topic/2383-understanding-parts-compatibility-for-your-sondors-ebike/

It’s probably time for you to seek help from Sondors.com.
