Hi folks. First-time e-bike buyer here; 64 years old, Daytona Beach, Florida; writer and copy editor, mostly retired.

I did a lot of investigation into e-bikes for about four or five years. I gave it a lot of thought. In just the last two weeks, I did one heck of a “due diligence” before purchasing, and one of the key deciding factors for me (among others) was the size and vitality of the online communities of Sondors e-bike enthusiasts, and their expressed satisfaction with the product and the lifestyle.

Now then…to the title of this post, well, here it is: my wife died suddenly almost three years ago. In a word…I did not take it well. Friends and family kept me alive. Since that day in 2017, I have sat staring at the wall. Something had to give.

Now, salvation appears to be in the works with my purchase of a Sondors Fold-X. (Didn’t want to wait another whole month for a Fold-XS.)

You see, I realized that if I am to survive even to the end of 2020, I’m going to have to do something about my health, and do it quickly. I used to be very healthy; now I look horrific. The antidote I desperately need is to be out in nature, exercise, and go to the beach every day. And my home of forty years sits directly on two 18-hole golf courses that see only moderate use; for thirty-seven years, I ran those courses twice every day, once at dawn and once at dusk. To me, they are two huge nicely landscaped parks where resides a piece of my soul. And I haven’t been out there since Kristina’s death.

God talks to me when I’m out there, in the same way he does when I sit next to the waves at the beach. And we have a few things to hash out with each other.

But now, I am physically unable to run; the doctors have all kinds of ideas about what they want to do about that; we’ll see. In the meantime, I’m going to get on my X and get back on the Road to Find Out.

And so, I’ll thank you for being here.

P.S. While I’m waiting, I’m looking into accessories. I’d be happy to hear any suggestions you may have as it relates to a cargo rack and making the tires puncture resistant.

God bless.

Read your post and just wanted to applaud you for being pro-active in your mental/physical health recovery and to stay positive/strong. Many people continue to spiral out of control through loss/depression. I am 40, married with 2 wonderful young children but I can honestly tell you that exercise has kept me alive throughout the trials/tribulations of life. You are going to love your fold. I had to wait 60 days for my fold Xs and it was so worth it.  Just wanted to share one of my favorite quotes "You can get busy living, or you can get busy dying" - Shawshank Redemption.

Blessings from Philly
